Results of Round Table “Inovative Technologies for Natural and Steel Water Treatment for Food Industry”

On September 28, 2017, at the Odessa National Academy of Food Technologies within the framework of the International Scientific and Practical Conference ” Food and Feed Technologies” a Round Table “Innovative Technologies for Natural and Steel Water Tretment for Food Industry” was held. The meeting was attended by leading specialists in the field of drinking water and sewage treatment for food industry, teachers and staff of ONAFT, post-graduate students, as well as students of the ONAFT drinking water technology department and students of the Odessa State Ecological University.
The participants of the Round Table were greeted by the head of the department of drinking water technology ONAFT and the moderator of the event O. Kovalenko, and also the director of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Food Industry, named after M. Lomonosov,  I. Solonickaya. Subsequently, reports were received on relevant water problems for the industry. In particular, the issues of suitability of the Odessa underground waters for human consumption, quality and physiological value of water and pumped water in Odessa, prospective directions of use of groundwater in the food industry, as well as efficient technologies and facilities for the purification of sewage from food enterprises were considered at the Round Table.
 Problematic reports have been presented to Associate Professor of the Odessa State Ecological University O. Grib, the head of the Central Chemical and Bacteriological Laboratory LLC “Infox” branch of “Infoxvodokanal” in Odessa, to the A. Polishchuk, Deputy Director of the State Medical Academy of Ukraine “UkrSI of medical rehabilitation and health resorts of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine” on Professor O. Nikipelova and Professor, National University of Water Management and Nature Management V. Kovalchuk (Rivne city). Each report contained new and interesting information, demonstrated current developments and a vision of the solutions to existing problems by the speakers and the groups they represented.
After each report there was a discussion. In particular, the issues of unauthorized drilling of wells in the countryside, quality and quality control of water in the pump complexes of Odessa, the state and problems of enterprises for bottling of mineral and sewage water in the Odessa region, and technological features of the equipment for the biological treatment of waste water from food enterprises industry.
Summing up the work of the Round Table O. Kovalenko thanked the speakers for meaningful reports, all participants for their active participation in discussing and formulating proposals for improving the state of water resources in Ukraine, improving the efficiency of water use, in particular at food industry enterprises, and also presented the Certificates of the Round Table participants.
